Aim High 3 Teacher Book.104

Aim High 3 is a language arts program from the 1990's. It was created by the Glenn Doman Institute. Aim High 3 is a completely different language arts program from Aim High 2, as the latter only focused on reading and writing skills, while Aim High 3 focuses on all four linguistic comprehension skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Aim High 3 is designed to use multi-sensory, individualization techniques that suit the needs of every student in order to help them develop their oral and written literacy skills. The program consists of three levels: Grade 8 - 10 (Intermediate), Grade 11-12 (Upper Intermediate), and Grade 13-14 (Advanced). Aim High 3 makes sure that all students have the same linguistic experience throughout the year. Moreover, this program is a sequential program, which means that one level leads to another. This program allows teachers to distribute resources evenly across all classes and to spend more time on working with individual students who have difficulties. Aim High 3 does not just focus on the linguistic skills, but also focuses on pre-academic, cognitive and social skills. In summary, Aim High 3 is a language arts program that builds confidence in students by offering rich and rigorous content while using a multi-sensory approach so all students can learn effectively. Aim High 3 is an assessment-based program. It wants to help teachers learn about how much students know at each level, therefore it wants to make sure all students are at the same level, whether it be reading, writing, speaking or listening. Aim High 3 gives teachers the necessary tools needed to see what students already know prior to teaching them new skills. Aim High 3 also teaches students about these skills by showing where they are weak in order for them to focus on what they are strong in. For example, if a student was weak in contextual comprehension then that teacher would show them how you read for meaning and not just for the literal sentence. Aim High 3 consists of three levels:Intermediate Level: Grade 8 – 10 (Grade 9 – 11, Grade 10 – 12) The intermediate level is designed for students who have below average skills in oral and written comprehension. There are two intermediate levels because students all learn at different rates. Students need to reach a certain benchmark in each skill so they can move on to the next level. These benchmarks are as follows: Performance Objective - Students can demonstrate a high level of proficiency across all skills area as indicated by student performance on the cumulative assessments and classroom assignments based on the theoretical framework of Aim High 3. Engagement Objective - Students can demonstrate a high level of proficiency across all skills areas, incorporating the concepts introduced in the previous lessons. Generalization Objective - Students can demonstrate a high level of proficiency across all skills areas, integrating all findings to develop their understanding of the general concepts. Upper Intermediate Level: Grade 11-12 (Grade 12 - 14) The upper intermediate level is designed for students with above average skills in oral and written comprehension. It is also designed to help students who have mastered at least one skill from lower levels but have not mastered all skills from lower levels. eccc085e13
